This is a great midrange hybrid. It has the best of road and LIGHT off road. Light off road is like pea gravel. I really like the fact that I can do group rides on the weekends with avg speed of 19-20 and go for a nice casual ride with my daughter with the same comfort level on both. I put some bar ends on it so my hands wouldn't go numb and swithched the pedals to clipless/grocery getters. Each stroke of the pedals give you great forward motion. The saddle is great too, I usually wear some kind of bike shorts on anything over 15mi but you don't really need to. I've read alot about the poor breaks. I haven't had any trouble with them, when I need to stop I stop. Not really sure if it would be safe for everyone if they stopped on a dime. Overall I don't think you can beat the Price, Quality, and Comfort of the FX 7.5 Now get out there and RIDE!

Awesome Bike! Great for around town and running errands, Really great for getting out on the road and pounding out the miles, This bike has what it takes to hang with the big boys. 27 speeds allow real cruising on the highway and you have no problem keeping up with the road bikes and the flat bar set up allows for a comfortable low profile ride. Perfect bike for all of my needs[...]! I couldnt be happier.

I just purchased the bike about 2 weeks ago. Wanted a hybrid for commuting about 25 miles. It is a real pleasure to ride and I look forward to it every day. Wish I lived where I didn't need a car. Seat is uncomfortable, but probably my inexperience and large butt, not the bikes fault. Trek did a nice job on this bike.

love this bike, got rid of my old 7500 and realized how much more enjoyable casual and exercise riding can be without the extra weight. I also found the geometry very comfortable. I don't miss the front and seatpost shock at all. My dealer, Maple grove cycle, did a great job fitting the bike to me, found out my old bike was too small hurting my wrists and putting too much pressure on my tail. Only upgrade I made was to a shimano dual pedal so I can clip in or use regular shoes.

The 7.5 FX is an awesome ride. The styling caught my eye and the performance sold me. Quality components, light weight, and a fast, smooth ride make biking sessions a very satisfying experience. Paved bike trails provide excellent fodder for the 7.5, and it eats up the miles and hills with ease. Rough surfaces are going to be less pleasant with the taut ride and high-pressure road tires, but if you spend more time on pavement than dirt you should definitely take a look at this bike. It's gotten me excited about riding again.

I bought this bike form the same dealer I bought my Navigator 3.0 from. I needed a bike for the road and commuting to work where the Navigator wasn't quite suited for. I found the ride much stiffer than the Navigator, but this was overlooked by the speed of this bike. I've had problem with the shifting with this bike and had been adjusted twice so far. I will be going back to the ship again this weekend for another adjustment. When I received the bike was noticed that the paint was touched up on the seat post, something that I didn't expect for Trek with their reputation. I have been comparing this bike to the Navigator and find I didn't have the discrepecies on it as I have on the 7.5 FX. This is strange for the FX is twice the price. All in all it's a good bike and have about 1000 miles on it in two and a half months. My dealer Tom Walters of Walter Bikes has bent over backwards to remedy the problems and without his help I would have a different option of this bike.

I bought this bike in January 2008 and rode it every week for six months. I had not been on a bike in a few years due to knee pain and had gotten very out of shape. I went to Gator Cycle in Gainesville, FL and they really listened to what my needs were and helped me select the bike that was right for me at that time. The FX 7.5 (affectionately named Ruby)really turned things around for me! The bike handles very well and is comfortable for rides up to 25-35 miles. Ruby reawakened my passion for cycling and helped me to shed a LOT of weight. Why did I ride weekly until July? Ruby also served as a gateway dru.. I mean bike . In July, I purchased a Madone 5.1, which is an amazing ride as well. The Trek FX 7.5 really opened up a new life for me, and I am grateful. It's a great bike. If you're not looking for a road bike but want to ride on bike paths or in town, this is the bike for you.

I own 2 of these with about 8,000 combined miles over 2 years. The brakes squeal when the pads are replaced, had to change the brake arms. The Octalink cranks are noisy to no end, I've replaced the bearings and tightened everything up. It's quiet for a few miles then the noise comes back and the crank bolt is loose. Otherwise a very good bike the frame is nice and stiff especially for a 210 lb rider. Wheels hold true though they discolor due to heat from braking.
